I have been back and forth thinking about the right Christmas gift for my boyfriend. He is very into gadgets and he is a college student.

I am considering the LiveScribe Smartpen. I have watched the demo on the pen and I must say it looks really cool. I really think it is a practical and awesome gift at the same time.

I just want some feedback from some people who actually own the smartpens. Does anyone have one? Is it good or bad?

Any other Christmas gift ideas would be great too.

Thank You.

Hi, is your boyfriend one of those college students who normally records the lecture and tries to scramble to take notes and somehow correlates them all later? If so, Livescribe’s Smartpen is perfect as his Christmas gift this year.

Of course, there are other brand names of digital pens that you can consider, but make sure you check whether they offer audio recording in addition to recording the writing.

Livescribe Smartpen records the lecture, with amazing clarity even if you are in a large lecture room or/and with a professor who loves walking all over the place. Don’t worry if you are at the back of the room in class! The microphone of the pen can pick up all of what your professor says.

Go with the Echo model instead of the Pulse if you have a micro-usb charger in your car for charging your cell phone which you can also use for charging the pen.

For the price, you really have to expect lots of quality.
